REGULATIONS
FOR IMPORTATION OF CIGARETTES IN 2005
Importation
In line with the Iranian government measures to cater for a part of the
local consumption and to clarify tobacco products trading, ITC has
undertaken to control imported products qualify and standards so that
the rights of the consumers are preserved.
The importation of all tobacco products is allowed observing the
following standards.
• Attaching the holograms
• Printing the health-warning
• Printing the specifications.
In the recent years ITC has concluded contracts with major companies
such as BAT, JTI, KT&G and Imperial to joint-produce same popular brands
and to import other brands through official agencies/ importers.
Exportation
Thanks to its conducive climate Iran has long been one of the suitable
regions to cultivate tobacco and tombac.
Iranian tombac is internationally known and considerable amounts of this
product are annually exported to different countries such as the Persian Gulf
countries, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, etc.
High quality tobacco types cultivated in Iran include eastern tobacco
types such as Basma, Tik- koulak, half-eastern tobacco types; such as
Trabuson and western tobacco types such as Virginia and Barley.
Great volumes of ITC ̉s cultivated and processed tobacco are exported to
different regions like Middle East, Europe, etc.
Presently, cultivating and processing high quality Iranian tobacco types
to be used in the products of leading international companies in the
framework of the mutual co-operation contracts is of priority in ITC ̉s
agenda. Taking advantage of the state-of-the-art international
technology to process, cultivate and maintain tobacco, ITC declares its
interest to provide tobacco for cigarette making companies around the
world.
